The fabulous Mini Maestros and our Sandwell Chamber Music Groups performed in a concert called a ‘Whisper Of Christmas’. Many of the string players in the Mini Maestros had never performed before, so this intimate setting, at the West Bromwich Library, was the perfect moment for them to let their talents shine for the first time! There was a very big audience full of their parents/carers and so they were, of course, a little nervous, however they played with confidence and made a fantastic sound as they performed ‘Scaley Tango’, ‘We will Rock You’ and ‘Jingle Bells’. The amazing String Quartets that also performed blew us away with their incredible ability to play together and gel so well, with no one leading them other than themselves. The musicianship that was presented in these chamber groups was very impressive. The youngest of our quartets played with good tuning and great character, straight through to our most experienced String Quartet, who dazzled us with their brilliant technical skills and abilities as they performed ‘Beethoven Opus 18 No.3’. The concert came to an end as both Mini Maestros and the chamber groups performed ‘Winter Wonderland’ all together and the parents joined in to sing the chorus. It was so much fun!
